RARE POP-UP at Bikini Berlin: 25 Independent Designers, One Creative Community

From Friedrichshain to Bikini Berlin, the RARE Collective continues its adventure, bringing together 25 Berlin-based designers, artists, and creatives in a vibrant celebration of independent fashion, design, and artistic expression.

Since October 10, 2026, RARE POP-UP has been welcoming visitors at Bikini Berlin, offering a new destination for discovering Berlin’s independent fashion and creative scene.

Curated by RARE Collective, this temporary space brings together 25 designers and artists, each with a distinctive creative universe. From experimental fashion and contemporary couture to upcycled garments, jewellery, handmade accessories, and textile art, RARE POP-UP celebrates individuality, craftsmanship, and unexpected creative encounters.

Running until the end of February 2027, the project is much more than a temporary shop. It is a collaborative adventure, a meeting point between designers and visitors, and an invitation to discover fashion differently.

From Friedrichshain to Bikini Berlin: The RARE Collective Adventure Continues

The story of RARE began in Friedrichshain, where Tata Christiane, FADE OUT Label, THERAPY Recycle & Exorcise, and EVERYDAY PIECES joined forces to create an independent space dedicated to experimental fashion, creative expression, and alternative approaches to design.

What started as a shared vision became a collective adventure, bringing together designers who believe in the power of collaboration and the importance of preserving independent creative spaces in Berlin.

This new chapter also builds on another important collective experience: Re-Use Superstore at Bikini Berlin, where many of the designers now participating in RARE POP-UP had already worked together.

Re-Use Superstore provided an opportunity for independent labels to share a retail space, connect with new audiences, and develop a collaborative approach to presenting fashion and design. The relationships, experience, and creative exchanges established there helped lay the foundations for this new adventure.

Building on these two collective experiences, Ulrike Bollmann of Couture Reloaded, Julie Bourgeois of Tata Christiane, and Theresa Kittendorf of HUMDRUM Studio joined forces to initiate and bring the new RARE POP-UP at Bikini Berlin to life.

This new chapter has been made possible by the enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment of all 25 participating designers and artists.

From shaping the concept and organising the store to creating displays, sharing responsibilities, and developing a programme of events, RARE POP-UP is the result of a genuine collective effort.

Bringing together familiar faces from previous collaborations and new creative talents, the project reflects the continuity and evolution of Berlin’s independent design community.

More than a shop, RARE is an evolving creative community — built by designers, for designers, and open to everyone curious about independent fashion and artistic expression.

Design First: A Different Approach to Fashion

RARE is rooted in Berlin’s independent fashion scene, where experimentation, individuality, and creative freedom are essential.

Rather than presenting a single aesthetic or imposing a uniform definition of sustainable fashion, the collective embraces a diversity of artistic languages and approaches to making.

Upcycling, reconstruction, slow fashion, local production, craftsmanship, and circular practices are all part of the conversation, but the starting point remains the same: a passion for design and original creative expression.

At RARE, clothing and objects are not simply products. They are the result of ideas, experimentation, technical knowledge, and individual artistic journeys.

Visitors have the opportunity to discover the designers behind the pieces, learn about their processes, and engage directly with the people who create what they wear.

It is an approach that encourages a more personal relationship with fashion, one based on curiosity, appreciation, and connection.

Tata Christiane at RARE POP-UP

As one of the founding labels of the original RARE Berlin store and an active participant in this new collective adventure, Tata Christiane is delighted to be part of RARE POP-UP at Bikini Berlin.

Founded by French designer Julie Bourgeois and based in Berlin since 2007, Tata Christiane develops a distinctive approach to fashion at the intersection of clothing, costume, and artistic expression.

Through deconstructed silhouettes, unexpected textile combinations, vintage fabrics, deadstock materials, and playful explorations of colour and proportion, the label creates emotional clothing that celebrates individuality.

At RARE POP-UP, visitors can discover a selection of Tata Christiane pieces alongside the work of other independent designers.

The collective environment reflects a philosophy that has always been central to the label: fashion as a space for experimentation, exchange, creative freedom, and unexpected encounters.

Meet the 25 Designers and Artists of RARE POP-UP

One of the most exciting aspects of RARE POP-UP is the diversity of its creative community.

The collective brings together fashion designers, textile artists, accessory makers, and independent creatives, offering a constantly evolving selection of original pieces.

Guest Designers

RARE POP-UP also welcomes five guest labels, adding further creative perspectives to the selection:

Together, these 25 designers and artists create an eclectic and constantly evolving universe, where different aesthetics, techniques, and personalities coexist.

A Living Creative Space: Events, Workshops and Encounters

RARE POP-UP is not only a place to discover and purchase independent design. It is also conceived as a space for exchange, learning, and community.

Throughout the coming months, the collective plans to organise a series of events, including creative workshops, informal coffee gatherings, special shopping evenings, and opportunities to meet the designers.

With the Christmas season, Berlin Fashion Week, Valentine’s Day, and the Berlinale taking place during the pop-up period, the programme will evolve in dialogue with Berlin’s cultural calendar.

These events will offer visitors new ways to engage with the designers, explore creative processes, and experience the collective beyond the traditional retail environment.

Bikini Berlin: A Unique Destination for Independent Design

Located in the heart of Berlin’s City West, next to the Zoologischer Garten and the iconic Gedächtniskirche, Bikini Berlin has established itself as one of the city’s most distinctive destinations for contemporary shopping, design, and urban culture.

Unlike conventional shopping centres, Bikini Berlin has developed a particular identity around concept stores, emerging labels, innovative retail formats, and creative experiences. Its architecture, open spaces, and constantly evolving selection of shops make it a place where visitors come not only to shop, but also to discover something unexpected.

With its history of welcoming independent designers, temporary retail concepts, and experimental projects, Bikini Berlin offers a natural setting for initiatives like RARE POP-UP.

For many participating designers, the location also carries a sense of continuity. Having previously been part of Re-Use Superstore at Bikini Berlin, they return to a familiar environment with a new collective vision and renewed creative energy.

RARE POP-UP fits naturally into this spirit of discovery, bringing together independent fashion, craftsmanship, artistic experimentation, and the people behind the creations.

In a city known for its creative freedom and alternative culture, Bikini Berlin provides a meeting point between Berlin’s independent design community and an international audience, offering visibility to labels that challenge conventional approaches to fashion and retail.
