Captain John: “I love this collab with RARE Collective because we communicate the same values using different media.
In these dark times where many people in power want to steal our freedom of expression, I felt the need to create this project.
Three years ago I founded Captain John’s Studio in Berlin, a safe, inclusive, creative and sustainable photo studio.
I specialize in portraits and have developed a photographic style that I call docu-fashion: I create photo shoots with people who I see as special and inspiring, often meeting them casually through friends or on the streets of Berlin.
For this occasion, I decided to transport you -through an immersive installation- directly into my world of the last 20 years.
Love, Family, Pain, my life. Photography has always been a great therapy for me, to never forget and to help not only myself but all of us.
Art is the revolution. Let’s FLY together for a better world.”

Captain John: “It’s a special feeling to work on a project that is fully queer also behind the scenes.
As a model it allows me to let myself fall entirely and tap into all of my creative potential.
More than that, working with brands whose ethical values of fashion sustainability, respect & vision of togetherness is RARE to say the least.
So this project has been very special and dear to my heart.
This was the second photoshoot we did in collaboration of Captain John & the brands conforming RARE so it felt like a little family reunion.
Not the one where your transphobic grandma screams at you during Christmas dinner but the one that feels like some sort of chosen family is continuing to develop!”
