Future Days Shop 1rst Anniversary

Future Days Shop 1rst Anniversary – Festival and Interview

Future Days Shop is more than just a concept store—it is a poetic encounter between sound and textile, a dream space birthed from the chance meeting of two creative souls. The story begins with a small, intuitive gesture: Eloïse handing Tomo an embroidered cloth after one of his concerts, an object that would quietly linger in his guitar case until fate brought them together again a year later. From this symbolic moment grew a shared desire to build a physical space that would merge their worlds of music, craft, and curation. Now located in a historic Art Nouveau building on Amsterdam’s Haarlemmerdijk, Future Days Shop offers a new model for soulful retail, driven by a vision of playful elegance, community, and timeless creativity.

Future Days Shop: Interview with the Founders: Eloïse and Tomo

From the very beginning, Eloïse and Tomo invited Tata Christiane to be part of the curated selection at Future Days Shop, recognizing the label’s playful spirit and timeless appeal. As part of the 1-year anniversary celebration, they were kind enough to share their story and vision with us in the following interview.

1. How would you describe the birth of your shared desire to create “Future Days Shop”?

Perhaps the idea for Future Days Shop began after Eloïse intuitively gifted Tomo an embroidered cloth she happened to have in her purse after being so inspired at the end of one of his concerts.

We barely spoke that night, but Tomo kept this very cloth in his guitar case until we met again by chance a year later. Recognising the power of craft and sound from then on, we often discussed how we both secretly dreamed of having a shop one day since we were kids and what our respective dream shops would look and feel like.

Future Days Shop eventually arose out of our desire to join our two distinct worlds and to create a new dialogue surrounding apparel, art, and music.

2. Does your concept store invite us to rethink the nature of what a concept store can offer, and is the focus on handmade and handicraft key to this experience?

More than ever before, we felt a collective desire and need for people to have a third physical space that is playful, creative, yet still elegant.

Our vision was to create the store we always wished we could visit; a place with a focus on items that we feel will carry into the future, as well as a platform for artists that are fearlessly redefining craft. We were also set on creating a place that isn’t overly cold or exclusionary.

At Future Days, there’s a little bit of something for everyone: you can come with your family or your partner or your friend, and each person can explore their respective interest. For example, if you are not so much into clothing, you can peruse our handpicked selection of rare books, vintage toys, or discover a handmade ceramic made by our friends in Japan.

We seek to reinterpret the concept store as a place of discovery, soulfulness, and where one can overall leave feeling inspired.

Most importantly, we want to bring back a sense of play. For us, playfulness and humour can be both elegant and intelligent.

3. Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Haarlemmerdijk street…

…our global vision that people will increasingly choose to invest in handmade and timelessness in the future days to come…

4. How do you see the concept store reflecting your two creative visions and personalities?

…through our hand-picked selection of emerging designers, records, art, vintage, and unique items…

5. Can you tell us about any specific themes or narratives…

For example, a secondhand Dries Van Noten dress… next to a Fisher Price toy one fondly remembers from childhood.

6. How do you plan to create an immersive environment…

…using our space to host a variety of workshops, exhibits, and events.

Eloïse will host a variety of textile workshops within the Future Days’ back studio called Inner World Studio. Here participants can learn all kinds of practices such as hand embroidery, mending, upcycling, and more…

7. How did you discover Tata Christiane?

We first came across Tata Christiane while perusing different shops in Tokyo years ago…

8. What are your hopes and aspirations for the concept store?

Our measure of success is to stay curious, keep doing what we love, and to continue the cycle of inspiration for as long as possible.
